Understand Composites
Composites may look complex and complicated for some.
But it's not that complicated as it looks.
You just need to know what the keys are and how to think.
If you have some experience in photoshop or just in replacing areas of your photos, it's the same technique.
What composites can do to your image is putting another dimension into the picture, but with realism.
It can be skies; a replaced sky is the first step of doing this. A simple one as well with photoshops new feature" Sky Replacement."
That can bring life to a picture with a less exciting sky.
But the execution is vital.
There are some pointers we must have correctly to make a unique and seamless composite.
1. Light direction
2. Shadows
3. Perspective
4. Placement of subject in the lens.
5. Colors
Do we have these keys on point, then we can almost do whatever we want. Seamlessly.
You can always make a subject smaller or larger to fit the canvas, but it's hard to make it work with the wrong lighting or perspective. So that important.
When it comes to Commercial pictures, there is a lot of composites going on in them.
Backgrounds, product, light (yea, you can composite light), you name it.
Suppose you want to try this out. Start to search on google for images, or if you have pictures that are similar to light and perspective, try to bring in subjects from one to another to see what happens.
My latest pictures are a lot of composites and replacements:
